Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page which is all about raising funds for the Samson Centre for MS, a charity that helps people living with Multiple Sclerosis in Surrey and surrounding areas.

Multiple Sclerosis is the most common neurological condition amongst young adults today. It is lifelong, it is debilitating and there is currently no known cure. John Hambly knows because he lives with it and he has done so for a long time.

Those of you who know John well, know that Rugby has played an important role in his life. His Rugby mates have been with him through thick and thin and helped him to raise the funds that have been needed to both build and run the Samson Centre for Multiple Sclerosis. These Rugby mates go back a long way and were friends both on and off the pitch. Many years later they remain his friends.

In 2015,  these  same mates and a few others, totalling 16, set themselves a challenge and rowed down the Thames. They had fun along the way, but there was no mistaking it was a test of physical endurance as well as their commitment to supporting a charity that means so much to John. They ached, they pushed themselves to their limits but they completed the challenge and raised much money in the process.

In May 2017, these same guys are taking to the water again. This time they have their sights set on the Caledonian Canal. They will each set off in canoes to paddle their way through the calm waters of the canal as well as the rough open waters of the Scottish glens. They will brave the weather, fearsome midges and even possibly the demon Loch Ness Monster, not to mention 80 miles of hard graft!

Enough said, please support the great Caledonian Canoe Challenge, support John's great Rugby mates, support John. Why you are supporting doesn't matter. Your support is all that is asked and in doing so we will all help, to help even more people who are living with Multiple Sclerosis.
