Story
Myself (Sally), Allison, Adam & David from Blackpool Freedom Runners are part of a (21) man relay team that’s running from Skegness to Blackpool over (3)days: 15th, 16th & 17th July 2022.
We are raising money to go towards the completion of the renovation project #TheBigRedNightBus
Amazing Graze registered charity (1167233) has supported Blackpools homeless and vulnerable community for over 10 years. The emergency night bus is a much needed resource in our area. The Big Red Emergency Night Bus will be the only mobile shelter in Lancashire supporting people from homelessness & vulnerable people from relationship breakdowns, domestic violence, fire damaged property, hospital discharge & many other reasons someone may require an emergency bed for the night. The bus will also be accessible to all emergency services to use in urgent situations for any of the general public free of charge. At present Blackpool does NOT have any emergency accommodation available for people to access in emergency situations, we do not have a shelter like other towns and cities. When people are homeless there is genuinely no options available. The Night bus will be renovated into 10 sleeping pods with a bathroom, lounge and cooking area. Operating over the weekend and dependant on the demand throughout the week in busier periods.
There will be two collection points in Blackpool & then the night bus will be stationery for people on board to get some much needed respite.
Support is given to anyone on board & to seek further assistance in supporting & finding more permanent accommodation through private landlords, supporting housing, council & any other options available including rehab & detox programmes.
