Story
This year we are completing our own cycling route accross Euope, we have named it the 18K Challenge. The tour will include around 1500km of cycling and 18,000 meters of climbing reaching a massive 2365 meters above sea level on the Fluela pass down to 3 meters below sea level and will include traveling through 6 countries. This will take place from the 16th June to 2nd July with only 3 cyclists, no support, no backup, and no contingency plan.
We will be starting in Milan (Italy), heading up in to the Alps towards Davos (Switzerland) then over the Fluela Pass to the Kloentalersee by day 3 (300km) resting at a comfortable 890 meters. We then move on up to the French and German boarder to Strasbourg, through the Northern Vosges regional park (750km), We will then join the Rhine on up to Koblenz and past Cologne (1000km) in to the Netherlands eventually making our way to Rotterdam (1300km) where we will take the dreaded overnight ferry to Harwich (UK) and cycle the last 250km home to Leicester (our final destination). This will be our biggest cycling challenge to date and we hope to share our journey with you all. We will try to make regular updates with pictures and short videos of our adventure, we will try share key moments the good, bad, ugly, funny and dangerous.
Last June we had some great support to reach our goal, and though we did not reach our £Target we would like to thank you all you know who you are, This year we have set a bigger more dangerous challenge and we hope you can support in any way possible to reach our goal for Cancer Research UK. We chose Cancer research as Cancer has taken some dear friends and family as well as affecting people close to us. Hopefully we can help cancer research in their continued efforts to help people fighting this awful desease.
