My aim is to raise £500 for the Stan Bowley Trust in partnership with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity, Birmingham, by running the Stafford half marathon on 25th March 2012. The Stan Bowley Trust was set up in 2008 following police Sgt Alan "Stan" Bowley having been diagnosed with terminal cancer and receiving CyberKnife treatment. CyberKnife is a revolutionary state of the art robotic radiosurgery procedure, that delivers high dosages of radiation with sub millimetre accuracy. Stan had to travel to Washington DC and pay £40,000 for his treatment, as CyberKnife was not then available in the UK.
The Stan Bowley Trust besides raising funds for a CyberKnife machine also want to educate people about the system which is now prtivately available in various London locations. To find out more about CyberKnife and how it can help some cancer sufferers please visit www.thestanbowleytrust.org
