Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Paul Coker and together with Diabetes UK Cymru and the Baldwin family (who tragically lost Peter, their 13 year son, to undiagnosed type 1 Diabetes) and together we are on a mission to raise awareness of type 1 Diabetes To do this I am running 40 half Marathons in this my 40th year of Living with type 1 Diabetes, as I write this post I have already completed 33 of those races and have just 7 left to go!
The final event in this epic challenge will be the Swansea half Marathon and we will be attempting to set a new Record the largest team of people with Type 1 Diabetes to run half marathon together. I can think ono better way of raising awareness of the conditions and of demonstrating that it really is possible to RunYourDiabetes on your terms.
However, the challenge of running sounds gruelling but the real work is happening behind the scenes to raise awareness of the condition so that families, carers and Health Care Professionals are all aware of the symptoms, which include tiredness, this, going to the toilet frequently and getting thinner (losing weight quickly) - as Diabetes UK put it the 4 T's (Thirst, Toilet, Tired, Thinner) and the breaking news is that type 1 Diabetes can be diagnosed in anybody at any age.
