Meningitis had never really been something on my radar in terms of ‘what are the signs, symptoms etc’ as it never really occurred to me that it might be something to worry about. This changed in March when my young nephew contracted bacterial meningitis. 

Reggie was a wonderful, healthy, happy 14 month old who contracted bacterial meningitis and despite the wonderful team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital's efforts, passed away within hours.

Meningitis Now have already been hugely supportive and helpful to Reggie's parents. We would love to be able to support the charity and ensure that more people are aware of Meningitis and how quickly it can have such a devastating impact. 

As part of a team of 10 friends, we will be attempting to buy and drive a motley crew of cars fit for the junk yard around the UK over the course of six days. Each day will have a specific challenge and there will be a lot of surprises along the way. We will be filming and detailing some of our exploits as we go and hoping that we can generate some meaningful fundraising for Meningitis Now. 

The 1K Tour will be entirely funded from our own pockets and all donations will go straight to the charity. We will also be looking at ways to generate additional funds along the way.
