The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Story

At the outbreak of WW2 my gran wanted to do her bit to help
her country. Aged 17 she left home to join the Women’s Royal Airforce and was
soon helping with the war effort. GJ (as she is known to her grandchildren –
Granny Joan) was soon working on Spitfires as a Flight Mechanic. An important
part of her role was to move the barrage balloons around the airfield to deter
enemy aircraft and ensure the safety of our Spitfires, gran has retained a love
of these planes to this day. - check out her broach in the above picture.

Now the country has a new unseen enemy and gran is just as
keen to do her bit to help. Now aged 95 and with 2 new hips gran is taking on
the 2.6 Challenge to raise vital funds for Hospiscare. As a homage to her
Airforce duties GJ will move 26 balloons 26 times from one end of mum’s garden
to the other. She may need a steadying hand from my mum but she is determined
to do her bit.

Gran has chosen Hospiscare as she has seen first-hand the
unique and beautiful care provided by this local charity. Like others she is
moved by how Hospiscare’s clinical team have adapted to be able to support the
NHS during this time. Gran’s fundraising will help in a small way to ensure
that when we are through this crisis Hospiscare’s doors remain open to continue
to provide their expert end of life care.

If you are able to donate Gran will be absolutely delighted.
Thank you from our whole family for reading this and supporting Gran.
