I think many of you will recall that last year Rich, Paul and Angus cycled from our London office in Leadenhall Street to New Hall Place in Liverpool, that was a journey of 245 "shorts numbing" miles over two and a half days, but in all we raised nearly £4,000 for Isaac's House, our Ugandan orphanage charity.

We are at it again this year but this time we are being joined by Antony Erotocritou, Finance Director of Personal Lines and we are challenging ourselves to ride Coast to Coast, from Whitehaven to Whitby, which is a total of 170 miles.  That might sound quite a bit less than last year but not only are we planning to do this in two days, we are also having cross the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors, cycling up some 12,000ft in all - that's actually considerably more than riding up Mount Etna and in fact parts of the route will feature in the 2014 Tour De France 'Prologue'!

However, even more devastating news is that although we will be passing the highest pub in the UK (Tan Hill Inn at 1,732 ft above sea level), given that we will still have 13 more miles to do on day one, we won't be going in ........................ probably!

It's going to be a massive challenge for us all but it's still a really important and worthwhile cause and with your support and encouragement, I am sure we can make it - even if we have to push our bikes up every hill.

Like every successful team 'Team Pie' will be headed up by our own team manager, performance coach, dietitian, medic, support car driver, and general skivvy – AKA Adam Bale!
