We all have goals we want to achieve, one of mine, as I have a passion for walking and the outdoors, was to walk Helvellyn along Striding Edge before I was 50 last year. Kevin (my husband) and I planned and booked the “adventure”, unfortunately something got in the way – I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Fortunately, after operations, weeks of radiotherapy treatment, many visits to the hospital, and with the support of my friends, family, and the Macmillan nurses, I was given the all clear (barring the routine check-ups and tests over next 4 years), following which I managed to achieve my goal.

Now I’ve decided my next goal is to complete the Yorkshire 3 peaks, walking 26 miles in under 12 hours, and I want to raise as much as I can for Macmillan Cancer Support to give back something for their excellent care and support they provided and ensure this continues for future cancer patients. Kevin, and my youngest son Daniel, will be accompanying me on the walk.
