Thanks for dropping past and for all your support so far! 18 months on from running my first marathon with my sister (see pic) and I was challenged by a friend to return with a bigger goal: an ultramarathon!

A friend and I were going to run an ultramarathon together in the Peak District, but sadly I've been left on my own for various reasons.  This has left me in a dilemma ...do I go there alone to train, see the route, run the whole thing myself and try and go it alone?

Given my diabetes means that being alone in mountains on such long running stretches would be far harder, and partly as it saves a few hundred quid in flights, accom, training runs and other things, I've decided to do the ultra (92km) on our own Waterford Greenway instead, on the same day (Sat 25th August)!  I'll be giving the money I saved myself, towards this work too.

My work with Christian Unions Ireland (CUI, previously IFES Ireland), involves leading a small team of us in Munster and Connacht as we inspire and equip students to reach out on the campuses and be lifelong followers of Jesus.  Giving to this work would enable us to put together the final bit of the team - we've recently employed another part-time worker, and someone also to oversee the International Student work in Ireland.  They've both to raise a fair chunk of their salary themselves from hard circumstances, so for their first year, it'd be great to cover the £2000 deficit we've been left with.
