Bath Half Marathon 2020 · 15 March 2020 ·

We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. That’s why we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.

Story

As someone who was born with 2 heart defects, coarctation of the aorta and aortic valve stenosis, I've always struggled stamina wise with long walks or runs. It means i have a narrower aorta and valve than normal so my heart has to work harder to get blood flow to my body. (Essentially, my breathing is affected and I run out of breath very quickly).

I am running the Bath Half Marathon to challenge myself and to train myself to be able to run long distances, despite my health conditions. I'm also fundraising for NSPCC, an amazing charity who help to prevent child abuse and support those affected by child abuse.

The NSPCC is the leading children's charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. They help children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk, and find the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening. Every child deserves the best possible chance to rebuild their life after abuse.
