Story
Yo, welcome. This year I decided my challenge would be to complete 2,020kms of running in 2020.
I didn't know that my challenge would be a lot tougher than expected, and that many others would experience similar challenges.
However, I have now completed the 2,020kms with time to spare. It's been difficult, but worth it.
I have set this page up to help anyone who feels like contributing towards the work that Mind do for those in need, and to help drive awareness of the issues that surround Mental Health.
The details:
- 2,020kms is the distance from London to Rabat (Morocco)
- Just the last 10 weeks I have run ~740kms
- Thats over 10kms/day for 70 days
- I have climbed over 32,000m, that's 105,000ft in elevation
- 105,000ft is more than 3 times the height of Everest
Why run for Mind?
- Mental health challenges are extremely difficult to recognise, diagnose and treat
- I have faced mental health challenges, and will face them in the future
- I want to help
- 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England
- 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England
- 1 in 5 people have suicidal thoughts
- 1 in 14 people self-harm
- 1 in 15 people attempt suicide.
- Women are more likely to have suicidal thoughts and make suicide attempts than men. But men are 3 times more likely to take their own life than women.
- In males under 45 years, suicide is the second most common reason for death.
If you can help, help. Love..
