Story
We know that many families and members of our community have been greatly impacted by cancer. Our walk represents anyone who has survived cancer or sadly lost the battle to cancer.
This will be our last walk being held at the beloved Evans City Schools, as we prepare to move and open the new K-6 building Ehrman Crest Elementary School in the Fall of 2022.
In 2007, we lost on of our beloved kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Linda Saulle. Mrs. Saulle started her own daycare and taught for 9 years before coming to the Seneca Valley School District, where she taught kindergarten for 17 years at Evans City Elementary. Mrs. Saulle was married for 35 years and had three children. She loved the beach and being involved in her family's activities: sports, dance, and band. She helped organize and begin our PTO craft show. Mrs. Saulle is greatly missed!
In her memory, we organized an annual walk called S.T.O.M.P Out Cancer. Mrs. Saulle held an annual Teddy Bear Picnic. (STOMP stands for Saulle's Teddy bear Official Memorial Parade). During the parage, students, faculty, and staff walk around the school to raise money and honor family and friends who endured a battle with cancer. We walk to honor cancer survivors and we walk in memory of loved ones who have passed.
Our donations for the 2022 walk will be going to Allegheny Health Networks Cancer Genomics Insight Fund. This is used to purchase cancer genomics equipment and instrumentation for cancer screening and related research, testing and analysis. Our 2021 walk specifically benefitted the Wexford Cancer Institute Patient Care Fund which provided urgent patient items such as: non-medical supplies, meal vouchers, transportation, parking, etc. Our 2019 walk specifically benefitted the Butler Cancer Institute Patient Care Fund.
