Story

My name is Paul Edwards and I am a 56yr old marathon and Ultramarathon runner from Penycae near Wrexham, North Wales.

In January 2023 I will be taking on my biggest challenge ever when I walk completely Solo, unsupported and Self-funded across the entire continent of America! Starting at the Pacific Coast in Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, and finishing approximately 3,000 miles and 5months later at the Atlantic Coast in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The training for this journey has already started and, as with other long distance hikes that I have done, I find that I have become a common site on the local roads and mountains in my area, especially when I'm walking home from work after my night shifts and see many familiar faces as people pass me on their way to work. It's a great boost when people wave and beep as they pass.

I have been doing marathons and ultramarathon fundraising events for various local charities for two decades but I have been focusing my attention on the Hope House childrens hospice for the last few years. Three years ago I stopped doing the organised events as charity fundraisers and decided on the individual/solo challenges that I am now known for, in fact, his will be my forth solo and unsupported challenge for Hope House childrens hospice.
