24 hour Non-Stop March · 20 July 2019

Our vision is to be the leading UK blood cancer charity specialising in stem cell therapy. We actively support stem cell research into blood cancers, raise awareness of stem cell therapies and offer a free stem cell storage service for qualifying families, which we call Model Cell Biobank.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. It's greatly appreciated. Please read my story! C

Canceris something that unfortunately affects everyone, whether directly or secondary, and with the extensive research going into this disease it's something that can be one day prevented and hopefully stopped.

My mother was diagnosed with myeloma 2 years ago. Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, is a blood cancer arising from plasma cells.
The cancer affects multiple places in the body, which is why it is referred to sometimes as ‘multiple’ myeloma.
Treatment for myeloma can be very effective at controlling the disease, relieving its symptoms and complications, and prolonging life. Unfortunately, though, myeloma is currently an incurable (terminal) cancer.

Whilst my mother is currently undergoing treatment and will be going into hospital for a stem cell transplant in June, she is a strong woman who takes everyday in her stride. My cousin and best bud was also affected with cancer, leukemia, at a young age and with the correct treatment she recovered to be the wonderful and successful person she is today.

So, I will be doing a 24 hour non-stop walk/run in July in order to raise money for Leukemia and Myeloma research UK. The walk will take place along the south coast, walking from Milford on sea to Weymouth (perhaps beyond) with the aim to walk as far as I can in 24 hours (100km+).  This will take place on the 21st July.

Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK wants to eradicate cancer of the blood once and for all. One of the ways they are aiming to achieve that is through advancing there understanding of stem cells and how they can use them to treat blood cancer patients, particularly through stem cell transplants.

Please sponsor me any amount in order to support such an amazing charity for a cause close to my heart.
