24 Hour Cycling Challenge 2022 · 20 June 2022

Fighting for Sight was established in 2001 to protect the vision of people in Grampian. It has already raised money to build a research unit within the Eye Clinic at ARI and now it continues to raise money to provide equipment, fund ongoing research, promote patient support and staff development.

Story

Despite the ongoing pandemic, my sister has continued to receive sight saving treatment, including emergency shunt revision surgery in 2020 and immunosuppressant infusion treatments every five weeks as a day patient at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Inspired by her bravery and by the professionalism of the staff involved with the charity, in 2021 I decided that I would take on a massive challenge and cycle 320km from Aberdeen to the Isle of Skye, raising over £5,000 for Fighting for Sight in the process.  Upon hearing this idea, Calumn didn’t need a second invitation. He was keen to share the pain and the experience to raise some much needed funds for the charity.

Not content with a coast to coast of Scotland, in June 2022 we are trying something a little bit tougher and attempting to cycle as far as we can in 24 hours.
