This Christmas, two Radio Odstock presenters are stepping up to the challenge of broadcasting live on radio for 24 hours all in aid of Salisbury Stars Appeal. Torin and Hermione will be hosting their Festive Fiasco from 4pm on the 27th of December, with 24hrs of Christmas Chaos taking them through to 4pm on the 28th! 

How are they feeling about the challenge?

"I struggle to stay awake for 12 hours most days... 24 hours on air will be fine, right? Right??" - Hermione

"Within one hour on the radio I normally make a fool of myself, so make it 24 hours and it's sure to be full of embarrassing moments and slip ups, I'd tune in just for that" - Torin

Why are they taking on the challenge?

In April 2022, we’ll trekking through the Jordan desert to Petra in support of the Stars Appeal; Salisbury District Hospital's in-house charity (no. 1052284). We’ve both volunteered with Radio Odstock – the hospital radio station – for many years and have been lucky enough to see some of the amazing work that the Stars Appeal do for our local hospital. 

They go above and beyond what the NHS can fund to make patients' experiences as comfortable and efficient as possible. Recent examples include funding of two new CT Scanners for the Hospital and funding comfortable accommodation in the Neonatal unit so that parents of premature babies can stay in the hospital with their little ones. Hermione was born at Salisbury District Hospital 24 years ago, and we’ve both received excellent care there in our lives, from cracked open heads to removal of suspicious lumps!
