'Robbie' the Robot 24 Peaks Challenge · 8 June 2013 to 9 June 2013 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Robbie the Robot appeal aims to raise the money to pay for the Da Vinci surgical robot that the Royal Berkshire Hospital acquired in 2008. The robot allows us to offer our patients the very latest advances in cancer surgery. Primarily used for radical treatment of prostate cancer, it is now also being used for some forms of kidney and bladder cancer and our aspiration is to use it for some ENT and colorectal procedures.
Through the fantastic support of the local community we have now raised over £1 Million in the appeal and only have a short way to go.
Last year local doctors Adam Jones, Sam Potter, Helen and Graham Paige and Brendan Smith raised money by completing the London to Brighton 100 km non stop walk in a mere 29hrs and 45 mins.
This time most of the team have joined up again and also roped in some extra support from RBH urology consultants Sunil Kumar and Philip Charlesworth and local GP's husband Graeme Williams for their team attempting the 24 peaks challenge. 24 peaks in the Lake District in 24 hours covering 31 miles and 14,000 feet of total ascent. Piece of Cake !!!
