The Allan Burton Memorial Foundation hopes to raise £25,000 for CLIC Sargent. 

The Foundation, set up in memory of Thompsons co-founder Allan Burton, is the chosen charity for the TIP-ex Gala dinner to be held on 3rd June 2016 in Harrogate. The fundraising for this event started in April with a 5 aside charity football match between Thompsons (UK) Ltd and Commercial Motor. It will then continue on 12th May when a team of three from Thompsons will be taking part in the challenging Kent to Ghent (Belgium) 150 mile charity bike ride. 

From these three events, The Foundation hopes to raise £25,000 for CLIC Sargent, to help fund Paul’s House, a Home from Home in London. Paul’s House provides free accommodation for families while a young patient goes through the often exhausting and traumatic experience of cancer treatment, helping them stay together and softening the financial impact caused by regular travel. 

Every day in the UK, 10 children and young people are given the shocking news that will change their lives forever. They are told that they have cancer. Treatment is often gruelling, can start immediately and will often require that a young person travels a long way from home.

The average round trip for a young cancer patient is 60 miles, with a one-way trip averaging 50 minutes. 

It costs £33 per family/per night at Paul's House. Every £990 raised for CLIC Sargent is enough to pay for a family to stay for a month in this Home from Home.
