We provide the support needed to give homeless young people a future

Story

Having just completed a 220 mile walk circumnavigating Surrey, it’s time for my next challenge.  I have discovered that no one has visited all of London's 270* tube stations on foot in one walk, so it sounds perfect for my next adventure (which will start on Thursday 3rd September).

This tube station walk means I’ll be spending 5 days and nights (at least) walking the streets of Greater London and will be sleeping rough during my walk.  For safety reasons my plan is to sleep in public parks during each afternoon and walk both at night and throughout the remainder of each day.

During my travels I am almost certain to see some of London's homeless youth so it seems only right to use my walk to raise funds for Centrepoint, a prominent charity that helps homeless youths.

There are over 100,000 homeless young people in the UK, and according to the Centrepoint website, in most cases being homeless isn't their fault.  Violence, abuse, family breakdown and problems with mental health mean that young people often become homeless because it can be safer for them to leave than to stay.

The Centrepoint charity provides housing and support for young people in London, Manchester, Yorkshire and the North East through partnerships all over the UK, and has HRH The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, as its patron.  It is a very worthwhile charity to support.

As a father myself, I’m anticipating it will be difficult seeing so many young people living on our streets first-hand so please, if you have a spare pound or two, support this great charity by making a donation.  No donation is too small.

I'll be posting progress updates during my walk on both twitter and facebook:

* Only 269 of London's tube stations are accessible on foot. The station at Heathrow terminal 1, 2, 3 is within the airport and can only be accessed via car, bus, tube or plane.  My intention is to catch the bus from Bath Road to Heathrow Central bus depot, visit the tube station, and then return to Bath Road via bus.
