Story

Have you Ever thought of Climbing a mountain??

Every thought of Climbing Ben Nevis the highest mountain in GB ??

Now have you every thought of Climbing Ben Nevis (Gaelic translation ‘Mountain of Heaven’) Standing at the lofty height of 1343m (roughly 40,00ft) in the Dark.??

Ruben and Oli will be doing exactly this on the 22nd June 2019 to raise funds for JDRF ( Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) The Climb starts at 11pm wearing head torches and after a very long walk, will see them arrive at the summit just in time to watch the Amazing Sunrise coming up over Scotland.

Ruben was Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2014 when he was just 7 yrs old, since then he has checked his blood sugar levels though finger pricking around 18,250 times, roughly 10 times a day,

Rubens body does not regulate his blood sugar levels, his pancreas can no longer produce natural insulin, so he must monitor his Blood Sugar levels and inject synthetic insulin each and every time he eats & drinks.

But it doesn't just stop there Ruben's blood sugar levels can be affected by : Fitness, Feelings, Hormones, growth spurts, Eating, Drinking, Not eating or drinking enough, Sleeping, The Weather, being nervous, and the list goes on.. his day consists of Carb counting of his food, considering slow burning foods to fast burning sugars, Rubens mum currently wakes 2/3 times a night to monitor his blood sugar levels whilst he sleeps to give him a rest.

Oli has been a Fantastic friend to Ruben since starting high school in September the support he has given him and understanding of this condition has been incredible, he has been a true friend. And one that jumped at the chance to support Ruben when he heard of the night climb.

Please donate to help find a cure for this disease and show massive support for both boys during this mammoth task.

Good Luck Boys.............................
