Coast 2 Coast Walk · 5 August 2007

The Waterberg Trust funds education, healthcare, HIV/Aids support and other projects that help and uplift the people of the Waterberg in the Limpopo Province, South Africa.

Story

UPDATE: 5th Sept - well we did it, despite a few nasty blisters, a twisted knee, rain and sunburn, mad cows, rabbit holes, loose rocks, freezing tarns, bag problems, sore paws and various other memorable moments - we walked from coast to coast and finished last Thursday as planned. Attached picture is from the finish  (pre-swim) and thank you again to all of you who have sponsored us. For those still wishing to do so this page will run until November. It was a great journey and with excellent fellow walkers we have a fantastic time.

Hey hey, thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

From August 17 we going to be walking from the west to the east coast of England with an assortment of friends and family. The route was made famous by Wainwright and stretches for 192 miles passing through the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors (but will be over 200 miles with the enthusiastic people we are going with)!

We are doing this walk with the hope of raising lots of money for the Waterberg Welfare Trust, a charity Stew first came across when working as a conservation volunteer in South Africa.

The Waterberg Welfare Society (WWS) was formed in 2000 primarily to provide help and support to those individuals in the Waterberg who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. WWS provides Educational Prevention and Awareness workshops, Home Community-Based Care (HCBC), Hospice/Respite Palliative Care, Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT), Orphans and Vulnerable Children Programme (OVC), Support Groups for people living with HIV/AIDS, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT).

For more on WWS check out: http://www.waterbergwelfaresociety.org.za/

We hope you will want to help us to support it!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Waterberg Welfare Society Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support - we'll let you know how we get on (blisters and all)!
