Story
Two mates, one mountain, and one big idea…
In August 2027, we're swapping Aberdeen for the Andes as we take on a 9-day trek to Machu Picchu in Peru, all in aid of Student Minds, the UK's student mental health charity.
We're Cal and Kai, two mates from Aberdeen who've somehow convinced ourselves that trekking through the Peruvian mountains is a good idea. Neither of us is entirely sure what we've signed ourselves up for, but we're looking forward to the challenge (and we'll probably be questioning our life choices somewhere along the way!).
We'll be taking on this adventure alongside fellow students from our university and universities across the UK, all coming together to raise money for a cause that means a lot.
Why Student Minds?
University can be an amazing experience, but it can also come with a lot of pressure. Between studying, work, finances, relationships and figuring out what comes next, it's easy for things to become overwhelming.
Mental health is something that affects all of us, whether personally or through the people around us. We believe that no student should feel like they have to face those challenges alone.
Student Minds works to improve student mental health across the UK, helping universities create healthier environments, providing resources and support, and making sure students' voices are heard.
The Challenge
Nine days of trekking, steep climbs, high altitudes and probably a fair amount of complaining from the two of us. It's going to push us well outside our comfort zones, but that's exactly what makes it worthwhile.
We're not just doing this for the views (although we're hoping they'll make the sore legs worth it!). We're doing it to help make a difference to students who might be facing challenges of their own.
How You Can Help?
We've set ourselves a big fundraising challenge, and we'd be incredibly grateful for any support you can give us.
Whether it's a donation, sharing our page, or simply cheering us on as we prepare for the trek, every bit of support means a lot.
Every donation will help us work towards our target and support the important work Student Minds does for students across the country.
Thank you so much for supporting us. We can't wait to share the journey with you all!
