Hi,
Thanks for taking time to read our reason behind wanting to tackle the 3 biggest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales.
What's it involved? Well for those that don't know about the 3 peaks challenge it involves running/walking up and down the 3 biggest mountains that total up to 23 Miles (37km) and ascending 3064 Meters (10,052 ft) in a 24 hour period.
Our reason behind wanting to do this is because as 4 "Men" we know the struggles of confiding in others about how we ACTUALLY feel. Lucky for us we are surrounded by a good group of mates whom we are able to talk to openly about how we feel without getting the stereotypical responses such as "Man up" or "Lets go get drunk". Neither of these help anyone in fact they only make that person and their situation worse.
We are now nearly approaching 12 months of either being in a full lockdown, partial lockdown or tiers. Everyone has had their freedom ripped away from them and weather we agree or disagree with it the reality is there's nothing we can do about it, we just have to try to switch our mindset and come up with different coping mechanisms to help us get through these times.
Which leads me to my next point and our reason behind wanting to do something like this. All coming from Sporty Backgrounds we stayed in touch with this throughout the pandemic, Walking, Running, Cycling and even some home workouts. Although it wasn't the whole answer to coping through lockdowns we can definitely say it contributed about 80% towards helping us through it without going completely mad.
So that's our reason behind wanting to do the 3 Peaks Challenge and raise money for CALM, a charity that helps men suffering with mental health in a way that has helped us three get through these tough times.
It cost as little as £8.00 to fund a potential life saving call. However
ANY donation is very much appreciated, even if you are not in a financial position to donate it cost nothing to share this post and get the awareness this deserves.
Once again Thank you for taking time to read our story and please read below for a bit more information on what it is CALM does.
