Retina UK is the only UK charity dedicated solely to working for people affected by inherited sight loss. We fund medical research to accelerate the search for treatments for the future, and provide information and support to help people lead better lives today.

Story

Retina UK is the only UK charity dedicated solely to working for people affected by inherited sight loss.

I have chosen this specific charity as it holds a dear place in my heart.  Since a young age, my brother Ryan has bravely tried to tackle Retinal Dystrophy, a degenerative eye-disease which causes a loss in vision and in many cases, blindness.  Because of this, Ryan has always had stumbling blocks in his way for whatever he has wanted to achieve in life, but it never stops him trying.  Anyone that knows Ryan will know he just gets on with life and tries to enjoy every second of it.  He makes me proud everyday.  My family have a history of retinal-related eye conditions as it is passed through genetically.

So with the time I have off work just now I would like to try and do a little something for him.  From February 1st, I am planning to walk 300 miles in 30 days in aid of Retina UK.  Everything will be tracked via Strava and updates will be regularly posted on my social media. Hopefully whatever is donated can make a real difference and one day there could maybe even be a cure.

Thanks for taking the time to read my page and whatever you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
