The 3 Lochs Ultra · 16 May 2020

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

Good friends Tito Arana & Jim Brown are to participate in the inaugural 3 Lochs Ultra, which takes place on Saturday May 16th 2020. Scotland.

The route, which is based in and around Loch Lomond, Gare Loch and Loch Long in the beautiful Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, Scotland , is a 49 mile hike, with almost 8000 ft of climbing elevation and all to be completed with 24 hours.

Starting out from the pretty village of Luss (Loch Lomond) at 6am, an easy start will see us walk to Balloch, from there we climb over Ben Bouie towards Helensburgh. An urban walk through and up out of the town, will see us enter the beautiful Glen Fruin, site of the fierce clan battle in 1603. More steady climbing leads the tiring twosome alongside Gare Loch and towards Glen Douglas. It is now that the fabulous Arrochar Alps come into view. With Glen Douglas behind us, our first view of Loch Long appears below us as we hike the higher slopes and towards Arrochar. As the light fades, the climbing really starts. Sore feet, tired legs and head torches lit, we will head up Glen Loin towards Coiregrograin. Relentlessly climbing, with the towering Ben Narnain to the left and Ben Ime to the right, we will climb steeply towards famous mountain The Cobbler (Ben Arthur).

With the majority of the climbing out of the way, Tito and Jim should arrive at the finish in Tarbet before 6am (24 hours later)... phew....

We both would be delighted to receive your messages and best wishes however, if you would like to make a donation, we would be truly very grateful.
