Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On 28th June 2014, we 12 novice walkers/hikers will be attempting to ascend and descend the Three Peaks within 24 hours to complete the Three Peaks Challenge.

The intrepid, novice mountaineers are: Rory Boswell, Mark Bowers, Lindsey Butcher, Simon Butcher, Connor Campbell, Laura Croisdale, Harriet Gibson, Bill Hilder, Ben Johnson, Piers Pye-Watson, Amy Realey and Kirsty Realey.

The Three Peaks are: Ben Nevis(1344m), Scotland; Scafell Pike(978m), England; and Snowdon(1085m), Wales. We will be tackling these in that same order, from North to South, starting in the late afternoon on 28th June. After Ben Nevis, we will be driving through the night to the English Lake District to hurdle Scafell Pike in the early hours of the morning before cracking on to Wales for the finale, Snowdon.

It will be extremely tiresome. Having to climb and descend each at pace is going to be hard on our joints and legs. Falls (small, hopefully not big) and blisters are more that likely. Cramp from sitting in a car after pushing your legs for hours will be a certainty. Not to mention the unpredictable weather that could be thrown at us.

All this and more would be worth enduring if, as we hope, aware and valuable funds are raised in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. The support and comfort their nurses bring to those in need everyday is beyond that which most ordinary people are willing to give.

We would be truly grateful for any donation that you might be able to muster.
