Story
Hi everybody!
Jack, Apprentice Deputy Manager at the Heanor, Derbyshire store has set his sights high (over 10,000 combined feet actually) and will endeavour to complete the National 3 Peaks Challenge all in aid of the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation.
He and a group of friends have banded together to complete this challenge on Sunday August 15th 2021.
The goal is to raise 500GBP for the charity which will use the donations in a variety of ways across a number of causes both nationally and locally. For more details on the work the charity do please visit www.ifcf.org.uk for more information.
What's the 3 Peaks Challenge we hear you cry!?
It is the attempt to climb the highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland within a 24hr period. The three mountains are:
Snowdon, in Wales (1085m)
Scafell Pike, in England (978m)
Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1345m)
We hope you'll come along for the ride, Jack will be posting images and video of the challenge during the attempt! Fingers crossed we can achieve the fundraising goal and conquer the 3 peaks!!
We completed 2 of 3 peaks within a 24hr period. The 3rd peak was going to take us over that 24hrs,but we still intended on completing the challenge but....
Our 3Peaks Challenge has reluctantly and heartbreakingly had to be cut short.
At around 930pm and still 3hrs away from Snowdon we made the decision that it just wasn't safe or smart to ascend our last mountain. Weather, darkness and fatigue (I believe we've all been running on around 3/4hrs sleep in total) have all played their part.
We want to thank everybody for their generous donations and assure you we have given it our best and not given up, we intend to return to finish what we started very soon.
