Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Alison and I will be walking up (and down) Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24hrs to raise money for Hemi-chat.
Hemi-chat is a charity which supports young people with Hemiplegia and provides help and advice to them and their families.
Hemiplegia is a form of cerebral palsy which affects one side of a persons body. Helen's youngest son Ben is nearly 6 and was diagnosed with a left-side Hemiplegia when he was 6 months old. This affects his hand and leg which he calls his 'sleepy hand and leg' because they just dont do things properly for him like his other limbs.
Ben's hemiplegia meant that he was very slow to meet all his developmental milestones. He still faces many challenges in day-to-day life and very simple tasks are extremely difficult for him to do with just one working hand.
Hemi-chat is a new charity which arranges social events and meetings for children and families affected by Hemiplegia to allow them to share experiences and information and to build up a support network. It also provides oppurtunities for children with Hemiplegia to meet with others and realise that they are not the only ones with 'sleepy' limbs!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So thanks for visiting our page and please dig deep and donate now to help this cause.
