The pandemic has been a tough time for all in so many different ways.

As musicians, pre-pandemic, we led a creative and fundamentally sociable life. This has been stripped away with no end in sight - no work, no likelihood of work, and no creative and sociable outlet to shine in. Not only has everyone’s income suffered, but our mental health too. Many performers have not only lost their livelihoods, but have received no financial support from the government after falling through the gaping holes in the self employed support scheme. 

I came up with the idea for ‘40 Days of Disney’ as I was lamenting my lost work and income from the upcoming Easter season. The 40 days of lent in the Christian calendar are a time when as a classical singer, I could expect a lot of performance opportunities. I knew that Disney films are something I come to when I seek nostalgia and comfort, and I know that many of us are in need of those things right now!

And so:

Tess & Friends - a coming together of over 30 musicians (and counting!) - will bring us daily video performances of some of Disney’s finest tunes over the 40 days of lent, commencing Wednesday 17th February and finishing on Easter Sunday, to raise money to help support those of us who need it.
