Story

Weston Park is a specialist Cancer Hospital located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

During the current COVID pandemic, a small group have used the opportunity to get on a bike and explore the great outdoors. Led by Paul Murray, Lucas and Jacob, both 12 years old, along with Jack Cartwright, will be cycling 40 miles between Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley football stadiums on the 28th June 2020.  This is not an easy route, but they are determined to complete it.

And why would they do that......

Lucas story

Back in 2018 my Grandad was diagnosed with cancer.  This was unexpected and a massive shock, he was normally very fit and well.  He had three bouts of Chemotherapy and months of daily radiotherapy.  He was very poorly and unable to eat.  He lost lots of weight and was always tired.  He wasn't my normal grandad, who be full of energy and making jokes.

Thankfully Weston Park were able to help my Grandad, and he is now cancer free.

Jacob story.

In July 2016 I lost my grandma to cancer, she visited Weston park on a regular basis for radiotherapy. During her treatment she started to deteriorate and became vey poorly, but by having this treatment it gave her more time with us.

Jack Cartwright
