Story

Back in September 2021, my step daughter was admitted into hospital with sever pain in her back. After multiple scans & tests she was rushed to AlderHey Children's Hospital.

It was discovered at AlderHey that she had an issue with one of her kidneys. The tube that goes from the kidney to the bladder was blocked, as it wasnt big enough. Subsequently fitted with a urine drainage bag to divert urine from the kidney. This was fitted so that Alderhey could carry out further scans & tests to find out what exactly was wrong, and identify the correct course of action. For a 8 year old this was a huge ordeal. Once the bag was fitted the pain stopped, and she felt fairly normal again. Fast-forward to the beginning of December My step daughter had been in and out of AlderHey quite a few times & was now scheduled to have a big operation to fix her kidney and have the bag removed. After a long 7 hours in surgery, it was found that her kidney had a hole in it, and the bag was unable to be removed, as the surgeons had to repair the hole.

the bag finally came off two weeks later than planned. She had the bag fitted for a total of 10 weeks, which for again a 8 year old is a very big deal. In the time she had the bag, she didn't go school, or have much sleep due to the tubes coming out of her back.

During this 10 week period AlderHey's staff from surgeons, consultants, nurses, chefs, parking attendants, everyone. Went above any beyond what any of us expected. This is only one story. There's hunderds of children having the same level of care every hour of every day.

We were all so overwhelmed with the level of care i want to give something back. I thought about doing a few things. I decided on playing Fifa as it's something I enjoy doing. I initially decided on a 48 hour continuous stream. This was so i could put my slef in a uncomfortable place during the event. This is so I can experience just a little of the uncomfortable feeling my step daughter went through, and the 100's of children go through on a daily basis.

I then discovered the world record for playing Fifa was 48 hours 49 Minutes & 41 Seconds. So i thought I'd attempt to break it.

Therefore for AlderHey Children's Hospital on the 4th-6th March i'll be playing FIFA on Xbox for a record breaking time of 50 hours. This will all be streamed on the Royal Air Force's Twitch channel.

I'm forever grateful of any donations that would be given. I'm not setting a target, as if i only raised £50 i'll be happy.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
