Story

Welcome to our fundraising page, here is our story so far

One crazy lady once said to another “Ooh, Kev suggested a challenge one of his colleagues mentioned, Run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours starting at midnight..........

12 hours later a date was picked, charity chosen and fundraising page set up!! (4 hours after that we had another crazy join our challenge!!)

Choosing a charity was difficult but after many messages back and forth we chose Insight CounsellingMany people will experience an increase in mental health symptoms throughout this coronavirus outbreak, by doing this challenge we hope to help provide support for those across the region who need it most.

Insight Counselling was founded in 1995 as the National Counselling Service to provide therapy in socially deprived areas of Dundee. As time went on, the service was extended to anyone in Dundee who needed help with a problem in living. In 2007 changing funding requirements required them to restructure and their name was changed to Insight Counselling, an independent charity which delivers a generic counselling service. Insight Counselling continued in Dundee and increasingly in Angus as well. By 2009 about one third of the people using our services were coming from Angus.

Today Insight Counselling provides therapy for over 2,500 people each year. There are over 40 female and male counsellors working with Insight Counselling. The people who come to speak with our counsellors come from all walks of life; all social economic, ethnic and religious groups.

Insight Counselling offers a safe and confidential space where people are listened to without judgement. Their counsellors provide a supportive, empathic and understanding environment. People have an opportunity to explore troubling issues from the past or present and explore options for the future.

We’ll be making the most of the summer solstice weekend and starting at 12am on Saturday 20 June then running 4 miles at 4am, 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm then doing it all over again on Sunday 21 June.

By the end of the challenge 48 miles will have been covered, the biggest challenge both of us will have pushed ourselves to achieve.

We appreciate all your support.
