As some of you may know our much-loved brother, John, passed away on 7th Feb 2020. During the last few weeks of his life, John and his family (immediate and extended) were looked after by the staff at the Ayrshire Hospice with such care and loving consideration that we will be forever grateful. We would like to raise money for this wonderful charitable organisation as a way of saying thank you. 

We would also like to honour the memory of our brother, Eddie, who sadly passed away very unexpectedly on 10th Jan 2021 – just 11 months after his younger brother.

Both had great voices and it wouldn’t take much encouragement to get them to entertain us with a song from a list of many that we loved to hear them sing. The Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) was always a firm favourite, as was You’ll Never Walk Alone. These songs now hold so much more meaning.

With this in mind, we decided that we would indeed walk 500 miles in honour of two amazing men who filled our lives with such joy.

During the period of Lent this year (from 17th Feb- 4th April)  we will cover 20 kms a day, hitting the 500 miles on Easter Sunday. In line with Covid-19 restrictions we will be walking in and around Ayrshire. We aim to have one Family member or Friend walk with us each day to share their own unique memories of John and Eddie with us.

A playlist of the tunes our brothers loved will be on hand to lift our spirits and help us on our way, beginning with I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) and ending with You’ll Never Walk Alone.  Their combined voices when they sang these songs together in brotherly love bring to mind very special memories that we lovingly cherish. John and Eddie were two incredible and genuine guys who are sadly missed, yet live on in our hearts – we know they will be walking with us.
