Story

Hi my names Jason Graystone and I want to ask you to take a moment to listen to this video. Im a devoted father of two beautiful boys and a devout husband to my amazing wife.

Being able to provide them with a content and secure life is what drives me the most.

my family have had some amazing holidays and experienced things that I would only have dreamed of as a child.

but Whilst most of us are busy creating the best life for our families, we sometimes forget to take a moment to be grateful for the most simple yet most important things to us.

We sometimes take for granted what is our most valuable possession. Something that can be taken from us, seriously altered or changed in the blink of an eye. Our lives...

Its easy for us to turn a blind eye to others pain and struggles.

But this year I want to make a difference.

I want to have an impact and do something to make a huge difference to help those that don't have any certainty to rely on. They don't have someone telling them that everything will all be alright.

So as you saw earlier I decided to call up an amazing local children's hospice called the Chestnut Treehouse and promised them that on Christmas Eve this year, I am going to rock up to the hospice with my family and deliver £3,000.00 worth of gifts to the children and staff there.

Now I’m known for acting on impulse and when i get an idea in my head, I act on it immediately. But When i got off the phone, I realised I had absolutely no idea how i was going to raise £3,000.00!!

So Since hanging up the phone, over the last couple of weeks, I have set up an event and organised lots of ways for people to get involved.

I have put together a sponsored event and called up my closest friends who have volunteered to take part as a team for this amazing cause.

I have a team of amazing people including my wife, closest friends and after reaching out to my amazing friend Akil Stokes in America, he not only agreed to help, but he managed to put together a team in America made up of some incredibly generous and kind people from the Millersville University in Pennsylvania!

So whats the deal? well we are all going to run 1100 km in 30 days!THATS 683 MILES!!!

there are 11 of us in the team and each day you will be abel to track our progress as we will be posting updates, video blogs and screen shots of our running apps to the Facebook page and the just giving page.

Im gonna be getting up at 4:30am every day to do my daily run and ill be posting an update after every run! Its gonna be nasty! November is not always the most forgiving when it comes to the weather!

Akil is heading up the team in the US and they’ll also be updating their progress each time they complete a run.

The reason I chose Chestnut treehouse is that there are potentially 1,000 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological and bereavement support, end of life and short break care and sibling support.

It currently costs well over £3.5m each year to provide all the care services provided by Chestnut Tree House. Families are never charged for their care and less than 7p in every pound is funded by the government, so we rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the generous community.

At Chestnut Tree House our goal is to provide the best quality of life for children, young people and their families, and to offer a total package of practical, social and spiritual support throughout each child’s life, however short it may be. So please dig deep and help us make a huge difference this year and we can all help have a huge impact on someones life!

There are also some other ways to get involved and sponsor our team.

The first way is to simply click on the donate button below and make an direct donation.

Another way is to run a garage sale or a car boot sale. Dig out all your old unwanted stuff. my kids have been digging out all their unwanted toys and old books and we are going to run a garage sale. You can do the same and donate some or all of the profit to our just giving page. Its a great opportunity to clear out your house before the new year spring clean!

The other way to get involved is to set up your own event! be creative and think of your own challenge, run the event and link your just giving page to our team 1100in30 and direct the proceeds to our page that way.

But lastly Please share this page amongst your friends and family or on social media and like it on Facebook, share the page and get this to as many people as possible!

Thanks for watching this video and I look forward to seeing you engaged on the Facebook page showing your support during whats going to be an extremely tough, but worth while challenge.
