Care Workers are at the frontline of the coronavirus crisis, caring for societys most vulnerable and most susceptible to the disease. If a care worker needs to self-isolate, they will fall into desperate need. Any help will go a long way.

Story

Brave, selfless carers in care homes have been working on the frontline of this war against the coronavirus day in day out. Many have even left their own families and self-isolated in their care homes during this time in order to be there for and protect their residents. They have been putting their lives on the line everyday for our love ones, much of the time with very little support, especially in terms of PPE.

Dave, Suzi (our coach and expert), Abi, Katie (our team manager), Simon & I have been sitting at home, feeling useless, wondering what we could do to help. Staying at home is obviously the most important thing that we can all do to help save lives and protect our amazing careworkers and the NHS, but we really want to do more. The government has allowed people 1 hr of outdoor exercise per day and we have decided to use this hour to raise money for our amazing carers. We have decided to run 500miles between us in 21 days, starting Thursday 16th April and finishing at 7.55pm on Wednesday 6th May.

Why 500 miles? This is the distance between Ponteland Manor care home in Northumberland and Trewidden Care home in St Ives, Cornwall. Which  almost covers the full length of England.

of us are VERY amateur runners so this is going hurt, but nothing we do can compare to what our careworkers are facing everyday.

We will be updating you on our progress via Instagram and facebook using #Run500milesForCarers
