#5K4D - 5K a Day for Dementia
I'm running to raise funds for The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, my mum has Dementia, so I'd like to raise awareness of the work the Society does and what they do in the community.
As with a number of things in life, it’s only when someone close to you is affected, that you get to feel the effect a disease like dementia can have, instead of just seeing the effect from the outside.
The Society is also Grant Thornton's (my firm) chosen charity partner for the year, and Amy & Joanne had visited our offices in Dublin in early March to give a talk on Dementia, and they showed a very powerful and touching video, Sean Donal O’Shea’s Story, which shows the impact of dementia on a family.

So my challenge is to run 5K a day for a full year. This challenge started on Saturday the 28th of March, when the lockdown started, and hopefully, barring injury or illness, my 365th 5K will be run on Saturday the 27th of March 2021.
I've split the challenge into 8 sets, 1 * 15 runs and 7 * 50 runs, the first set was the easy 15 runs one and started with the lockdown, so aptly named Lockdown 5K. The second set is the start of the 50 day sets and is called Lockdown Xtra 5K, watch this space for more set names.
