5K and a dook a day in December · 31 January 2021

The aims of Hessilhead are to rescue, repair, rear and release orphaned and injured wildlife. Hessilhead deals with approximately 3000 wildlife casualties a year. Patients range from common garden birds, hedgehogs, foxes, swans and owls to the more unusual such as otters, deer, seals, peregrines and pine martens.

Story

Fancy a 5K in the dark rainy winter nights??..or even taking a dip in icey cold waters??..no I didnt think so...then leave it to us...During December me and the mountain goat herself Ausrine are raising money to help injured and orphaned wildlife that are cared for 24/7 at the Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Centre out in North Ayrshire. I am running at least 5K every day in December while my running partner in crime Ausrine has decided to bare herself to the wild wild (and cold) lochs, rivers and burns for a dook a day in December..

So folks, I know its nearly xmas...but spare a thought for our feathered, furry and prickly wild friends that may of been succumbed to injury at no fault of their own...they need our help..the owls, hedgehogs, swans, deer and orphaned seal pups to name but a few...Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Trust work tirelessly round the clock looking after all types of wild animals and birds and are completely dependant on your donations to allow their work to continue...trust me..I have seen at first hand the amazing effort the staff and volunteers put in looking after all their wildlife patients with the aim of releasing them back into the wild...A dook in freezing cold water or running a 5K rain, wind or snow everyday in December must be worthy of a wee donation to help Scotlands injured or orphaned wild animals...Share some festive cheer and support our cause this December...Thankyou..
