Story
Throughout this lockdown, I’ve been at all loss on how to make any sort of difference given the grand scale of the pandemic. When I saw Gemma’s fundraiser I knew it was perfect for us.
I did my first 5km run with the buggy at the start of the month and am committing to running 5km with the boys in the buggy 5 days a week for the month of May. We would really appreciate you support! Please see below for more information on how TearFund will be using your donations to support those most vulnerable.
“We are running 5km a day in May to raise essential support for people living in poverty through the global Covid-19 pandemic. It’s been a challenging few weeks for all of us. We’ve seen for ourselves the devastation this virus can cause. Yet for people living in extreme poverty, the impact could be unthinkable. In many places around the world, social distancing isn’t possible. And there aren’t enough hand-washing facilities. Many people rely on day-to-day work in order to feed their families. Stockpiling is impossible. Lockdown brings new challenges to already vulnerable families.Tearfund's local partners are on the frontline now. But they need your help.‘We are distributing leaflets about handwashing, distancing and recognising symptoms,’ says Sudarshan Kodooru, Tearfund’s Country Director in Bangladesh. ‘We have given out hygiene kits, but getting access is likely to become even harder.’We are aiming to raise £5000 in May, which could provide essential sanitizing products like soap and bleach powder for over 1,560 families living in poverty. We'll each be running on set days - some one day a week, some every day of the week, to cover every day of the month of May. We're ready for the challenge... help us save lives.www.tearfund.org/coronavirusFollow our progress on social media with the hashtag #5kmADayInMay!”
