Fundraising for Mind Jersey

5 ISLANDS. 108 MILES. 48Hrs. 8 ordinary guy
With a few 10k’s, a couple of half-marathons, and a handful of long distance events, naturally the next step is to undertake a 108 mile Ultra that spans 5 different islands!
At least that was the very sensible idea keenly discussed over a pint or two one winters evening in Jersey. “I need an event, a challenge, something to get me out running again” announced one....”yes, perhaps a relay race around Jersey” (48 miles) another declared....”well why don’t we all train to do a complete lap each” another said.....well why stop there - lets do an Ultra!....”Well old news aren’t they”?.....another pint or 2 later and the vision to run around, Sark, Alderney, Herm, Guernsey and Jersey (the Channel Islands) was formed.
As the weeks progressed and the hangovers faded, the planning and preparation gained some traction and clarity. A group of 8 ‘ordinary’ guys are planning hard.... training harder .....and staying away from public houses in an attempt to actually complete this crazy challenge.
Whilst the 5 islands have been ‘run’ before, we plan to be the first group of guys to complete the challenge within a 48hr time window.
Why?
Why not!
......I guess because we can. because it’s a challenge and we all need to challenge ourselves from time to time. We also consider ourselves fortunate enough to be able to attempt such a challenge (completing it is another matter) and along the way help others who are less fortunate. You may think we are crazy, perhaps a little desperate for attention, maybe a touch ambitious ...whatever you think, we’d appreciate your support, emotionally and financially!
All the funds we raise will go in support of a fantastic charity - MIND Jersey, an independent local charity that provides support to people living with mental illness!
We will be starting in Sark on Thursday 7th June and finishing in Jersey on Saturday 9th. We will provide live updates or our progress via our Facebook page and twitter account.
