60 on the move · 2 June 2018

Our belief and our aim is that no-one, should lose their sight if it can be prevented. To achieve this, we fund research into blindness, support prevention projects in the world’s poorest communities and help doctors from developing countries access eye care training.

Story

Hello everyone and welcome to the Just Giving Page for 60 On The Move.

I couldn't turn 60 without doing something, so Sue and I are going to attempt to circumnavigate the Lleyn Peninsula and Anglesey on foot this summer, to raise funds for the British Council for the Prevention of Blindness. This page already has lots of info and links to this little known and life changing charity.

Sight is probably our most important sense and one I feel is so widely taken for granted.  I am fortunate enough to have travelled widely and seen some amazing sights.  And of course its just as amazing to see the most banal things: imagine doing the washing up without sight...  Yet many round the world suffer from blindness, which given the right means is often curable.  BCPB's research and training in blindness prevention makes a significant contribution particularly in developing countries and we would be delighted if you are able to join us in supporting their activities.

Our route covers 250 miles - quite an ask considering we're more used to 2.5 miles! We start on the 2nd June. Your donations will motivate us hugely to get to the end.

Many thanks in advance

Patrick & Sue
