Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have Parkinson's disease and want to help Parkinson's UK with their important research work.

I am a folk singer and originally setup this page to enable other folks to sponsor me to sing 60 songs, from memory as per of an event at Ringstead Social Club on Saturday 10th October.

Due to Covid-19 we don't know whether we will be able to run the event and by coincidence when we went into lockdown I started recording a song every day for a neighbour to listen to, research the history of and post on Facebook, at the time of writing this I have just released song 106. I've invited some of my musical friends to help me by recording remotely with me! I'll no longer be doing a song a day, but will continue with the odd offering through until October

For me Parkinson's at present, affects my right side, predominantly my right hand. This affects me in a variety of ways, but most noticeably when playing music, particularly guitar and concertina. Recording all these songs has taught me that with a little 'out of the box thinking' I  can find ways to play songs taking my limitations into account and then not beat myself up about it.

In due course I'll work out how to get some of these songs posted on  this site

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
