We fight poverty worldwide to give everyone the chance to thrive

A few weeks ago, I and a few friends from Jordanstown sat down one evening and thought, "How can we join in celebrating Christian Aid's 70th Year?" We'd all done Christian Aid's Strangford Sportive Cycle last October so why not a cycle?  And why not a 70 mile cycle to mark the start of Christian Aid Week?  And - perhaps after a glass of wine - why not try to get back in time for Church?

Little did we know what tragedy was about to strike Nepal and neighbouring countries.  This natural disaster has once more brought home how fragile life is.

All the donations made on this site will now go to Christian Aid's Nepal Earthquake Appeal.

Through its partners across the globe Christian Aid strives to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of faith or nationality.  It's an organisation that insists the world can and must be swiftly changed to one where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty.

When we discussed our cycle we all thought, that in some small way, committing to this task would help us reflect on the huge effort daily life still is for the world's poorest peoples.  So often we hear of the arduous journeys undertaken to get to a doctor or even just to collect firewood to survive.   With Nepal's infrastructure now torn apart life just got even harder and more desperate.

Christian Aid Week starts on Sunday 10 May.  Our cycle will also help mark the start of this year's house to house collections.   We all support Christian Aid because it does have this proven record of working globally for profound change that eradicates the causes of poverty.

Every donation in support of our cycle, big or small, is really welcome and goes straight to Christian Aid Nepal Earthquake Appeal through this site.  Thank you!
