Story
⛰⬛️🟩 Donald Bagging for Anthony Nolan 🟩⬛️⛰
On Saturday 1st may I am going to begin a massive hill challenge on my mountain bike for charity. In the southern half of Scotland there are 89 mountains over 2000ft tall, these are called Donalds and I aim to have them all bagged on my mountain bike in a maximum of 89 days, finishing before the 29th July.
Throughout this challenge I will be raising money for a charity called Anthony Nolan, a charity who help people with blood cancer overcome their own challenges by providing them with lifesaving stem cell and bone marrow transplants as well as other amazing support.
For those of you who don’t know, Anthony Nolan run a stem cell and bone marrow transplant register here in the UK. Over the next few months I will explain more about this amazing charity and hopefully encourage you to join their register or support them in any way you can. For now, you can head over to www.anthonynolan.org if you’d like to know more.
As I work a full time job and these hills are spread over half of Scotland, I will be doing them at weekends and in the evenings, this means I’ve had to be realistic and make an 89 day time frame for this. This obviously averages at 1 hill per day, although there will be days where I will bag 5+ and some days I will bag none.
I will keep everyone up to date with my progress through my fundraising page and I will also share photos and stories to the Instagram page @89donalds89days - give it a follow as well as the @anthonynolancharity page.
I really hope that I can encourage as many people as possible to sign up to the work this charity does. If anybody has questions about it all then I’m happy to answer where possible.
My first hills of the challenge begin on Saturday 1st May, more info to follow...
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
