97 Miles in April · 21 March 2021

The Survivors Trust is the largest membership organisation for specialist rape and sexual abuse services in the UK. We aim to support and empower survivors of rape, sexual violence and/or childhood sexual abuse.

Story

My name is Amelia Desouza and myself and Abigail Sleet are going to be completing 97 miles over April in light of the 97% of women who have faced sexual harassment, abuse or violence.

We are raising money for the Survivors Trust, who specialise in providing support for victims of rape and sexual abuse. They provide helpful information, support, advice and therapy to over 80,000 individual survivors each year. This is a charity that is very close to home, and I want to be able to give something back to them.

When I was 15, I went through a traumatic experience, and I want to be able to spread awareness to the fact that the women around you will have a story to tell. Going through this was extremely difficult, but I was helped greatly by the specialist services funded by The Survivors Trust, which allowed me to cope with the situation, and grow as a strong individual. I know the charity can do the same for other victims of sexual abuse.

I want to thank my family and close friends for giving me the confidence to start this fundraiser. The support you guys have given me over the years has been immense. I can't thank you enough.

Any donation, big or small, will go a long way. Thank you :) x
