Fundraising for Crawley Open House
Story
You may or may not know but here at ILG our charity of the year for the last two years has been Crawley Open House, a charity that supports the homeless and vulnerable of Crawley & West Sussex. Having been completely compelled by the work done there, the whole company has got behind this with various initiatives. To cap off our work together, Daniel Roffey, our warehouse trainer who has been a massive supporter of this charity, has come up with an idea, it is extremely challenging but, we want to have one more go at raising some money for this important charity.
On January 9th 2020, the three of us are going to ride 100 miles through the night in freezing temperatures in the hope that some of you kind people will sponsor us. The people we are raising money for are outside all night, every night so the least we could do was put ourselves through this for just one!
It will be, without doubt, the toughest thing any of us have ever personally done. Some of you reading this may have kindly sponsored some of us on long-distance bike rides in the past but these were during the day, at a nice time of year!
To get ready for this, we all decided that we needed to lose some weight and train our bodies to the max, with daily swimming and spinning sessions becoming a norm, to be prepared for anything the night may throw at us.

A bit about Crawley Open House:
Crawley Open House has been on the front line serving the homeless and vulnerable of Crawley and West Sussex for 24 years. They operate a 26-bed high support hostel, a busy drop-in day centre open 365 days a year, 3 move-on houses and a community outreach team. They cover a huge swathe of West and Mid Sussex, as there is no Horsham Open House, Haywards Heath Open House or East Grinstead Open House….
Last year they managed to resettle around 60% of hostel residents to somewhere more appropriate and permanent. There were over 24,000 support appointments for residents, day centre users and those staying on the streets. No-one locally does more to stand alongside those who have fallen or are falling through the cracks in society, for whatever reason.
