Peak District Challenge 2021 · 3 July 2021 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting our page. We are raising money for the British Heart Foundation by completing a 100km walk/jog/run challenge within 24 hours in the Peak District and we would be so grateful for your support.

We have fully funded it ourselves which means every penny will go straight to the charity!

 The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help us hit our target.

Team member Isla's story;

British Heart Foundation is close to my heart because in July 2018 I lost my dad to a heart attack. He was a very active man, a keen gardener, regular walker and cyclist and active grandparent.
For the past 4 years, he would organise week long cycling holidays for my brothers and I to complete with him. We have completed the Hadrian's Wall Cycleway, Coast and Castles South Cycleway, Outer and Inner Hebrides Tour.
It happened on the last trip to the Inner Hebrides that on Day 4 cycling back through the Isle of Jura and onto the Isle on Islay that we decided to add on a visit to the local distilleries. After sampling some of the finer blends of Bunnahabhain, we made our way back to the main road. With the beautiful Paps of Jura in the background, he couldn’t have picked a finer spot. My mum said it was the expensive whiskey that did it!!
Every penny of our fundraising will go to the British Heart Foundation on life saving research and support for heart patients and the risk factors that cause them.
