We fund life-changing and life-saving work to support cancer patients at The Christie

Story

Once again some of the A&F staff members are putting themselves through their paces by competing in the Great Manchester 10k run.

After our amazing total of £6,800 back in 2015 for prostate cancer we have decided to raise money once again for a great cause. This year we will be helping the world renowned Christie Hospital in Manchester who are at the forefront in the battle against cancer.

One of our runners this year is our Commercial Director who was recently treated at the Christie Hospital.

“I was diagnosed with cancer of appendix and had the below treatment in Feb 2016 on World Cancer Day.” Julian Stansfield.

CYTOREDUCTION WITH HIPEC
  • Cytoreductive surgery is often paired with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) to effectively remove peritoneal mesothelioma from the abdomen and increase the average life expectancy of patients.
  • Cytoreductive surgery is a surgical procedure used to remove tumors from patients with peritoneal mesothelioma. When it’s paired with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), it considerably increases life expectancy and reduces the rate of cancer recurrence.

We have chosen the Christie Hospital as our charity this year to raise funds as Julian wanted to repay them for the treatment & care he received.

This years Great Manchester run ‘athletes’ are:

Julian Stansfield
Paul Jones
Pete Gregson
Dean Taylor
Nick Cook
Jordan Saywood
Liam Worsley (who clocked an impressive sub 47 minutes in 2015)
