Andrew's CW5000 Mile Cycling Challenge

CW5000 · 16 January 2020
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Living in the North East of England and being a rugby fan it's impossible not to be aware of the amazing work the Doddie Weir is doing to help raise much needed funds for Motor Neurone Disease research and for those who suffer from this horrible disease. Watching the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards in December 2019 it was incredibly touching and also heartbreaking to listen to Doddie talk about the disease and to thank those that have helped him so much over the past few years. Coupled with the news of Rob Burrows, another rugby legend being diagnosed with MND I wanted to do something. Even if I can make a small financial contribution, every mile will be worth it and your support will get me through!
As an insurance adviser I've always been aware of Motor Neurones Disease as a Critical Illness that is covered by many of the insurance policies that our clients take out, but didn't know just how MND affects those diagnosed with the condition.
MND describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do. With MND, messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles. This leads the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. MND is life-shortening and there is no cure. (Motor Neurone Disease Association, 2020)
Over the coming weeks and months ASure Financial will be posting regular updates on our website and facebook to track my progress and also providing details of how you can support this challenge.
Thank you all for your support. I won't let you down!
