DSL's '21' Walk for Down's Syndrome · 22 March 2014 ·
Ezra is nearly two and, in the time since he was born, we've been on a steep - sometimes difficult, mostly great - learning curve which has been supported by our family and friends, as well as some amazing groups and charities. Having Down's Syndrome makes it harder for Ezra to learn to walk, talk and all sorts of things. At Down's South London (DSL), therapists work with us to show us ways of helping Ezra walk, talk, play, and do general life skills (he's really good at washing a doll now!).
DSL is a parent-run charity that supports children like Ezra and the whole family with an early intervention therapy service in South London - it's a combination of therapies that aren't available through the NHS or local councils. DSL is an amazing place to go every week and has given us all huge support and Ezzie loves it! They are desperately short of the money at the moment and we don't want this service to close down.
On 22 March we are walking 21 kilometres along the Thames to raise money for DSL - chromosome 21 being the one which determines Down's Syndrome. Fabian and Ezra (in a buggy) will be walking 2.1 kilometres. It is also World Down Syndrome Day on the Friday before.
If you'd like to join us for the walk, donate to DSL, or even hand out Mars bars along the way (yes, some of Team Curran-Griffiths are in denial about how far this actually is!), please let us know.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
